FAQs

Got a quick question?
When will my order arrive? I make small batches of most items so if it is in stock, it will be sent within 3-4 working days of ordering. Made to order pieces can take 2-4 weeks. Bespoke orders can take up to 6 weeks. All items are sent Royal Mail next day delivery by 1pm. Sometimes orders can take a bit longer at busy times of the year (eg - Christmas). I will send you a "Your order is being posted" email the day before your item is posted (so 2 days before it is delivered). It must be signed for.
My order hasn't arrived - what should I do? You should have received a "Your order is being posted" email from me 2 days before delivery with a tracking number and a link to the Royal Mail website. You can use this or the email from Royal Mail. If you still can't locate your order, then do contact me and hopefully we can find it together. Please note that things can be a bit slower near Christmas.
My order doesn't look exactly like the website photo All items are individually cast by hand so there is always going to be variation due to the process used. This is especially the case with gem stones placement. This adds to their uniqueness.
Can I change my mind? No problem. You have 7 days from date of signed for delivery to return any items you are not completely happy with. Items should be sent, unused, in original packaging by registered delivery at your expense. A full refund will then be issued providing the item(s) has not been used and is in the same condition in which it was sent out. Bespoke or commissioned orders cannot generally be returned.
I'd like something that isn't on the website? If you would a bespoke item - something on the website but with a slight variation then contact me and generally I can make alterations fairly easily. If you want to commission a piece from your head rather than mine then I'd love to hear your ideas. We can work together to make your vision into reality.
Is Sonas Mòr jewellery made sustainably? Yes. I am committed to treading as lightly on our world as possible to make my jewellery for you. All metal used is recycled. All gemstones are lab created and not mined. Packaging is recyclable and, wherever possible, environmentally friendly. All processes from design to delivery are chosen because they are the most eco friendly possible.
How much does postage cost?
Delivery of all orders is free in UK mainland. They will be sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery and and should arrive by 1pm. It must be signed for - so make sure you have given me an address where someone is around to take delivery and sign for it. I will send you a "Your order is being posted" email the day before I post it - so 2 days before it is delivered to you with a tracking number. Royal Mail will also email you.
What are the delivery times?
Due to the handmade, small scale nature of Sonas Mòr Jewellery, not all items will be in stock. I make small batches of products so that most of them are available. If there is going to be a significant delay then I will let you know as soon as possible.
Ready to post (available) items - posted within 3-4 days of ordering.
Made to order (an item as seen on the website that I will make for you) - up to 4 weeks.
Bespoke (an item on the website that you have requested an alteration on) - up to 6 weeks.
Commissions - as per discussion.
Longer chain length or a magnetic clasp - up to 2 weeks.
If you need something quickly then please get in touch and I will do my best to get the order to you sooner.
Do you deliver abroad?
This may be possible depending where you live. If you live outside of the UK mainland have any questions please contact me.
Do you gift wrap?
Postage & packaging
All orders are packaged in signature Sonas Mòr Jewellery packaging which is sustainable and fully recyclable. An Invoice will be sent electronically to the purchaser after payment so won't be posted out with the order. If you require a paper copy then let me know at the time of making your order.
Customisation & Jewellery Care
Can I order something different?
If you have an idea for something a little different, then I'd love to hear about it. Please contact me to discuss and hopefully we can make your vision real.
Made to order - an item as seen on the website that I will make for you because it is not in stock to send straight away.
Bespoke - an item on the website that you would like to be made slightly differently (eg - a different colour gemstone).
Commissions - your own idea which we design together and then I make for you.
How can I best look after my jewellery?
Your jewellery should withstand normal wear and tear. I recommend that you do NOT wear it in water or in bed and try to avoid applying perfume and suncream when wearing it.
Every order comes with a small polishing cloth to brighten polished finishes if your jewellery gets a little dull. Orders are also supplied with a small abrasive pad in case they become more shiny - these are safe to use on stones. Changes to your jewellery from every day use are normal and are part of the individual story that you are adding to your jewellery.
If you have any further queries about how to care for your jewellery then please do get in touch.
Ethical information & Sustainability
Sustainability is very important to me - I love what I do but I don't want to damage our world unnecessarily in the process. I have tried wherever possible to make Sonas Mòr Jewellery a climate friendly business and I am always looking for ways in which to improve my ways of working to make it more so.
Gemstones:
Although most people do not disagree on the need for improved working conditions for people involved in the mining of gemstones, putting these in place is a less than straight forward business. Mining standards are improving slowly but danger to life and limb still exists. Damage to nature and the environment can be significant whatever mode of mining employed.
With this in mind and also, due to the process of sand casting and the way gemstones are set ("cast in place" which means molten metal is poured over them which means that they have to be very heat tolerant), I have opted to use lab created stones in my jewellery. Lab grown gemstones are identical in structure to their natural counterparts but without the imperfections. Many are much more heat tolerant than the natural versions and so add an increased choice of colour and size. The only natural gemstones that are heat tolerant enough to cast in place are diamonds, rubies and sapphires.
Using lab created gemstones sits better with me personally from an environmental and ethical point of view. It also increases my creativity by giving me more choice and flexibilty.
Metals:
Silver and gold are infinitely recyclable. All silver and gold used in Sonas Mòr Jewellery is from recycled sources - either by me or the company I have bought it from. They are sourced from things like medical and electrical equipment or household metals.
Postage & Packaging:
All Sonas Mor packaging is sourced from eco friendly, recycled and/or sustainable sources. I order raw materials and send pieces for hallmarking in batches to reduce carbon footprint and use Royal Mail (currently the most carbon conscious delivery company in the UK) for posting out orders.

hygienic and health and safety reasons, all earrings will not be accepted for return.
